AVL clay offers a variety of ways to dip your toes fingers into creating with clay
Your adventure starts here! There are so many ways to express yourself in clay. Our classes will get you up to speed whether you are keen on learning how to throw or you wish to handbuild one of a kind pieces.

Maybe you’ve done pottery in the past but you feel rusty. This is a great way to get back in the game and to introduce yourself to the studio.

This class is dedicated to supporting the skill development of teens and young adults in the studio. Participants will receive instruction in both wheel and handbuilding and will have plenty of time to work independently on projects that interest them. Ages 16 and over

Teen / Young Adult Studio Time and Support
8 week - $400
From Wheel to Wonderful
6 week session - $300
In this class we’ll combine wheel thrown and handbuilt elements to make fun, one-of-a-kind pieces. Projects will start out as bottomless cylinders and then will be transformed by our hands into things like flower frogs, double-sided lidded forms, footed planters, pedestal platters, tool caddies and more! This is an intermediate class and participants should be able to center and throw at least 3 pounds of clay.
What to expect:
experienced instruction in a private or very small group setting
generally we’ll start on the wheel and then add handbuilt elements or we’ll use a wheel created mold to build upon
all materials you need to make during your class
bisque and glaze firing for your pieces
