a little bit about us

AVL clay was born from a desire to connect fellow artists and as an antidote for the lonely hours of solitary making. Founded by local ceramic artist Arleen Ferrara, our spacious community studio, set in an inspiring vintage-industrial space, where we can share what we know and learn from each other. It is a place where we fall into a rhythm of showing up and supporting each other’s journey of discovery in all things clay

AVL clay features…

  • Brand-new kilns to fire your cone 6 wares with perfect results every time

  • Professional Shimpo and Bailey pottery wheels for smooth, consistent throwing

  • Generous handbuilding space and tools including a Bailey slab roller

  • 12 dipping glazes, slips, underglazes, and a spray booth — with more to come
