A Maker’s Fest Success

Once again the clay makers showed up for AVL clay. I wanted to do something hands on at the studio that got people in a festive mood so that is how the Holiday Fest came about. Of course with clay there are endless fun things you can make so my task was to narrow down a few little gems that I thought people would like making and would give them quick success. In my head I thought folks would trickle in over the 2.5 hours set aside for the making. You know what they say about assuming, right?! Nearly everyone showed up at the same time and I really appreciate the patience they had with me as I checked everyone in and gave them the scoop. It would’ve been absolute chaos if not for my amazing friends Julia, Kat and Karin who manned their stations like champs showing makers how to pinch to perfection or slip and score with success. The night fell into a rhythm and soon people were applying their colors onto their pieces and placing them on the shelves to dry. I can’t wait to see the 50+ items all shiny right out of the kiln ready to inspire some holiday cheer.
