and now for an introduction…
The folks in my life that know me well know that I do not like public speaking so when I had to do the first studio orientations for members I was talking a mile a minute and (as the photos can attest) gesturing wildly. I am so incredibly proud of how AVL clay has come together but I know that this is just the beginning. It’s really important that everyone feels welcome, empowered and informed. That’s were the orientations come in. Learning all of the ins and outs of a studio is crucial if you are going to be able to be comfortable creating in a new space. I have to be kind to myself during this time and realize that I do not have all of the answers and if something I thought was going to work isn’t, I can change it. I’m trying to walk the very fine line of having structure in place and still allowing for some slight shifts if it’s called for. Essentially I’m trying to listen and observe as AVL clay’s brand new members begin to claim their shelves and create what calls to them.
