Sneak Peek Opening – Be the First to See AVL Clay’s New Pottery Studio

On Saturday, August 16 from 10 AM–2 PM, AVL Clay will open its doors for the very first time — and you’re invited. Come explore Asheville’s newest community pottery studio before the wheels spin and the kilns fire. Everyone is welcome, no RSVP required.

Step Inside a large open Creative Space

Our light-filled ceramics studio is located in a 1920s vintage-industrial building with a high barrel-roof ceiling, exposed steel trusses, and warm original brick walls — reminiscent of Asheville’s iconic Orange Peel building.

From the moment you step inside, you’ll feel the buzz of possibility.

A Studio Designed for Asheville Makers

AVL clay is a place artists and hobbyists alike can spread out, experiment, and bring their ideas to life.

Natural light streams through oversized windows, and fresh air flows in through two roll-up doors — connecting your creative energy to the outdoors. Studio dogs are welcomed too.

Throw, Build, Glaze, Fire – All in One Place

    •    Wheels: 9 pottery wheels with more on order.

    •    Glazing Area: Fully equipped with cone 6 glazes, underglazes, slips and surface decorating tools. A spray booth is on the horizon too.

    •    Kilns: Skutt 1227 production kiln and a L and L E23T. These kilns will serve us well and we’ll add more as we grow.

• Plenty of throwing, handbuilding and glazing tools on hand

    •    Personal storage with either shelves or cubbies. Coat racks too.
